(Lower Intestinal Bottom Bowel Evacuation)
This is the finest, state of the art equipment on the market.
There are basically two different types of equipment for administering colonics: open or closed systems. Before deciding to have a colonic, it is helpful to understand the basic difference between the two equipment types.
With a closed system, the client lies on a table similar to a massage table and the equipment is plumbed into a cabinet attached to a nearby wall. The therapist then inserts a speculum into the rectum and attaches one end of a disposable hose to the speculum and the other end is connected to the equipment.
A pressurized stream of water is then delivered through the attached hose and when the colon is filled and pressure reaches maximum levels the therapist manually drains through the same hose. Water pressure and temperature within the colon must be monitored to avoid leakage or perforation, requiring the constant attention of the therapist.
This type of system is generally the better choice for patients who have spinal injuries causing a loss of control of the anal sphincter muscle.
With an open system, the client lies on a molded fiberglass table that looks like a recliner. The table has a basin cut into it and a small, disposable rectal tube, about the size of a pencil is at one end. After demonstrating to the client how to gently insert the tube, the therapist leaves, providing total privacy for the client.
The therapist returns when the client is ready and starts the continuous flow of gravity-fed water through the rectal tube and into the client. When the client feels full, they simply push out and the rectal tube moves to one side within the rectum allowing the softened matter to flow out. An odor exhaust system works so that it remains odor free at all times.
This type of system is very gentle and is usually the better choice for clients who have had any type of bowel disease. The open system is generally regarded as more comfortable than the closed system.
Unlike enemas and laxatives, Colon Hydrotherapy is not physically addictive. With an enema, water enters the body from the rectum under gravity force, distending and weakening the lower section of the colon before being released on the toilet. Laxatives, taken orally, pull water from other parts of the body into the large intestine, and act as a purgative to over-stimulate the colon's peristaltic function, forcefully pushing fecal material out of the system, and weakening the colon muscles.
Our cleansing method seems to have a beneficial toning effect while also hydrating and enhancing absorption rather than the possible stretching and fatiguing consequences of enemas or laxatives.
We believe that as you release toxins from your body, you may become more relaxed. Please read Michael Gershon's The Second Brain and Candace Pert's Molecules of Emotion for more information about this mind-body connection.
You might also find that your cravings are diminished or eliminated while, at the same time, you may sense a heightened awareness of how different foods affect you.
Colon Hydrotherapy may also be prescribed by physicians as preparation prior to surgery and intestinal diagnostic procedures (i.e. barium enema, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy).
